The Conference for Software Architecture
Munich, 21 - 25 January 2019

In 2011, Marc Andreessen famously stated that “software is eating the world” but thus far we didn’t reflect (enough) on its impact. The impact is based in technology, e.g. the need for aligning design, architectures, processes, ways of collaboration, and techniques with this disruption. And finally, not only with the rise of artificial intelligence are we asked to come up with algorithms that are ethical and can cope with our responsibility for the society. This way, we want to address seriously the request of the philosopher Richard David Precht , who asked us in his closing keynote at last year’s OOP conference, to consciously create the future (with IT).

OOP is known as the venue for people working in the enterprise environment, because the conference is making possible that software and business meet. Technical experts (architects, developers, requirements-engineers, testers, etc.), technical (project) managers and leaders gain an excellent overview of the state-of-the-art in modern software engineering. We will discuss both – promising concepts for the future and techniques that have already proven to be successful in practical use.
Also this year, we managed to attract excellent keynote speakers, who enable us to expand our horizon: Samantha Payne advocates with Open Bionics using Open Source and cross-market collaboration to make limbs especially for kids both affordable and cool. Rebecca Parsons details how evolutionary architecture is influenced by artificial intelligence (AI). Sarah Spiekermann explains what digital ethics is and how it can be applied.

In the main program you will find several proven tracks but also many new ones, like:
•    Distributed Ledgers & Crypto Platforms – here we’ll discuss different blockchain approaches
•    Enterprise Architecture and ist significance as a digital driver
•    Real Artificial Intelligence – here we’ll elaborate AI’s suitability in the daily use
•    Smart Software Architecture – in this track we’ll examine the impact of topics like data analytics or smart user experience on the architecture
•    User Experience & Product Discovery – here we’ll inspect how disruptive innovations influence the creation of new products.

Corporations like Amazon, Alibaba, Volkswagen, BMW, Breuninger, Linux Foundation, Datev or the Hasso-Plattner Institut share their experiences. Internationally renowned speakers like Linda Northrop, Ken Power, Kevlin Henney, Maartje Wolff-Jansen, Fennande van der Meulen or Gunter Dueck present their latest insights. Moreover, Frank Buschmann invited to the track ‘The Future is already here…‘ various authorities, who will point out the most recent developments in technology. For the first time, we’ll offer on Friday additionally an unconference to the theme ‘Care for the Future’ – in this Open Space we will design the future together!

Take a close look at the whole program – it’s worth it!
I’m looking forward to welcoming you to the conference!
