Docker enables microservice architectures and is the leader in containerization technology. That said, there are many ways to "do Docker". Between the leading cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google) and other leading platform stacks (Docker Swarm, Apache Mesos - DC/OS, Docker Data Center, Kubernetes) and it can get confusing. In this session, Michele will bring her customer experiences building solutions across most of these platforms - to provide you with the highlights and the architecture topologies.
Target Audience: Architects, Developers
Prerequisites: programming experience
Level: Practicing
Extended Abstract
Michele will bring her customer experiences building solutions across most of these platforms - to provide you with the highlights, the architecture topologies, and some perspective on the way she helps her customers choose the right platform for their cloud, on premise or hybrid solutions.
This session will cover the following:
- demos will include each of the listed platforms, progressively, while introducing the concepts relevant to developing and deploying and managing containerized solutions
- it's both conceptual and technical; diagrams to help illustrate concepts, demos to cement how things work at runtime such as showing deployment, updates, load balancing, scale out, monitoring, logs/diagnostics, self-healing services etc.
- topics include how to think about using orchestration platforms, features we expect them to offer us, scheduling concepts including jobs vs. long running services, even message based solutions
