Extended Abstract:
“Internet of Things“ is a metaphor for how the infrastructure of our daily lives – streets, railways, water and gas grids, vehicles, heating and air conditioning systems, safety alarm systems and many more – is being rapidly being equipped with digital smarts. These “smarts” arise from collecting and evaluating information and then controlling systems based on the gained insights. This trend provides significant opportunities for new and enhanced services and, at the same time, just as significant risks related to security, safety and privacy. In this session, you’ll hear from Clemens Vasters, Product Architect at Microsoft Corporation, about his perspective on the technical, operational, and organizational challenges posed by digital infrastructures along concrete use-case examples.
