Value Validated Architecture: Discover Your Architecture sans BDUF

Uhrzeit:09:00 - 10:30
Vortrag: Do 4.1

Let go of the habit designing and creating architecture and backend infrastructure. Set your focus on delivering valuable user features form the very start of the project. Discover Value Validated Architecture (VVA) a mapping technique for creating user stories that allow agile teams working at enterprise scale to deliver big architecture incrementally and iteratively while delivering user value--not design and infrastructure--up front. These techniques also apply to refactoring existing systems.

Target Audience: Architects, Project Leaders, Developers, Coaches
Prerequisites: For beginners&experts alike. Helpful, not required, to know user story and BDD expectation basics.

You will learn:
As a participant, I will
* be able to run a VV A workshop like this one with my teams for my systems
* be able to discover architecture design options with my teams and validate them incrementally and iteratively
* learn a fresh take to slicing user stories, and learn a new approach for avoiding technical stories in the backlog

Extended abstract:

These techniques combine Impact Mapping, Behavioural Driven Development (BDD) expectations and User Story Mapping with an empirical, real options approach to complex design decisions. You will be able to tap the fractal nature of BDD to slice your User Stories and validate your options in a way that allows your architecture to emerge in step with delivering user value sans architectural review committee or Big Design Up Front (BDUF). You will learn and experience the approach in this workshop, and you will able to repeat the process for your systems, with your teams, after the conference.
